Our kindergarteners put their learning about wants and needs into action by organizing a school wide food drive! Students collected donations for families in our community and practiced important social-emotional skills like empathy, cooperation, and responsibility.
As part of the project, students collected and organized data on the items they received, using charts and tallies to see which items were donated the most. Then, they used their creativity to design posters to share their findings and teach others about the difference between wants and needs.
Through this hands-on project, students not only practiced early math and data skills but also reflected on how their choices and actions can make a difference in the lives of others. It was an inspiring way to connect classroom learning to real-world impact!
