Sometimes I think we forget how powerful our class iPad devices can be. We are often engaged in apps or searching in Safari but we often forget what else comes automatically with our devices. The camera is a very powerful tool. Not only does it allow our students to capture photos of their work in progress, but it also allows them to capture videos of their learning. What better way to share in the moment learning by encouraging your students to capture their activities in a quick and simple video. Imagine being able to send how a reading sample at the beginning of each month so families can really hear how their child is doing with their reading? Or maybe have af friend record another friend solving a challenging math problem. Imagine how happy a family would be if they could "see" and "hear" their child present a project they have been working on with them at home. If you're fortunate your school district has a place for. you to safely store these artifacts of learning. If you're not perhaps you can email these artifacts of learning to your student's care givers. Sometimes we forget the power of the camera and in particular the power of video and voice recording. Don't forget to use your iPad's and share the stories.

Thanks for this reminder! The camera on our iPads can sometimes feel like a simple tool, but it’s actually incredibly powerful for sharing learning. Our district is always on the lookout for ways to share what our students are doing at school with their families. Our K-3 students take their iPads home and can share their work with their families. Some of our K-2 teachers even send their students’ iPads home occasionally to show off the work they’re doing. I’m curious to know if anyone else has any other great ideas for sharing the work our students are doing with their families in a way that’s easy to access.
