Pick a Pet Math! Adding two-digit numbers and shopping for your new pet!

A super cute Keynote to help with adding two-digit numbers! Students start by choosing which pet they want! Then choose two or more items for that pet (we did 3 with our 2nd graders), move them over to the pet, and do the math in the white box using draw or a stylus!

*Most things are locked on the keynote except the pet items so they can move them over to their pet!

*The numbers are different in each slide so you can reuse the document with students—do a slide each day!

*Some numbers are high enough to force regrouping (you could change the numbers if your students aren’t ready for that yet!)

*The last slide is for your early finishers—they can use shapes to create a pet house (or copy and paste from the previous slides if they know how!)

This is incredible! It’s a perfect way to practice addition with students, and I love how versatile the activity is. The slides are so cute as well, all of the pet designs are amazing. I’d love to do this with my students!

I love this resource! The keynote is great quality, organized, and well put together. I especially liked how students got to choose different accessories for their pet. The activity is fun and engaging, as it helps students to add two digit numbers while buying items for their pet. The activity is also very versatile and can easily be adjusted for various grade levels. For instance, the prices and items could be changed to practice adding one digit or three digit numbers, as well. This idea could also be used to practice estimation, as students can guess how many objects they could buy with a certain amount of money. Overall, this resource is fun, easy to use, and instructional.
