Teachers & Students Collaborating on PDFs in Schoolwork after the update...

Hey!

We use the Apple Schoolwork app regularly at our school and with the recent update we've lost the ability to assign PDFs and collaborate on the [PDF] document with students. It works like it used to with other documents, just not PDFs. PDFs can be assigned in the new 'send & collect' section but they're not collaborative like Keynote and Pages documents are in the 'collaborate' section. Any work arounds? Thanks!

Yes, this is such an irritating development. Being able to view my students’ annotations in a PDF document was one of the key advantages of using Schoolwork. I guess I can distribute worksheets as collaborative Pages docs, as I originally create all my PDFs in Pages, but this doesn’t resolve the issue with original PDFs, such as downloaded research papers.

PDFs can be opened in Preview (or sent to a PDF reader e.g. Notability or PDF Expert), but they lose their original title and are given a meaningless title, e.g. file_16741d84-b3eb-4fc2-afcd-9db20f836900, which will be a nightmare for organisationally-challenged high-school students.
