Best practices to maintain a positive mindset through all the chaos

Hi educational leaders: now that most of us have kicked off a new school year, how do you keep a positive mindset when there is chaos all around. I feel some staff members getting overwhelmed and grumpy about new initiatives. I always make sure to share the bright side and see the positive to overcome the grumpiness. Many years ago I was in a situation where I let the negativity creep in and overtake me, a toxic workplace can invade your mind if you let it.

What are some best practices you have for keeping a positive mindset?

For me, no matter how busy I get, I always make time to stop and chat with my staff... not work related. Making personal connections really fills my cup. I love to see pictures of their children or hear about their future vacation plans or personal aspirations.

I think the key is to find your tribe. Make sure you are connecting with like minded educators and supporting each other. I know it is hard to remain positive when down in the "trenches" of everyday school life.
